out of country plates?
i came back from living in l.a and still have the cali plates on. i still have an adress there. i still want to keep the plates on since insurrance is so much cheaper there. whats the worst that could happen?

Are you living in ontario now? You have like 4-5 months to change em to ontario plates legally. Also insurance will probably deny any claim you have.
Was the car canadian or american? If it is american and you didn't do the whole importing car thing your car is illegal.

If you're still living in the US, I don't see any issues. I would just call and advise your insurance company that you're in Canada for an extended period of time.

ya i have an adress in the US but im living here for a while. just worried if im gonna get in shit if i get pulled over.

If your stay exceeds 1 year then you will need to swap over, at least that's what I was told by my immigration lawyers. I'm likely transferring from Canada to the U.S. I assume the same applies for the opposite.
Upon registering your vehicle you'll have to show your work permit etc plus papers that show the car meets emissions standards etc.
If you want to roll the dice you can always get away with "oh I'm just visiting" but that's not really advisable

i'm staying in toronto for longer then a year. i'm a canadian with american visa. would the time restart if i cross the border?

stretch it as long as you legally can, California plates look so much nicer than Ontario plates.
