I had the same thing going on with the small wear holes before getting my top replaced. When my car got vandelized, it was a bad thing that worked out for good. (I got a new top)

IMO, the cabrio world top looks better than the OEM top. I went w/ the stayfast canvas, since it's a better material than the OEM vinyl. Cabrio World does offer the vinyl though at a lower price, if you're interested in the "original look". Like I said before though, I think that the stayfast looks better.

My new cabrioworld top lowers and raises perfectly... (w/ the strap modifications)

It's a nice tight fit in the well when the top is lowered...

They offered $400 off if I did the repair with them. I've owned convertibles for the past ten years and never had a problem with a top before, and my s2k is 2 years old, so I'm not satisfied with the customer service in the very least. I still like the car but will never spend another dollar in a Honda Dealership.
Thats

What dealership did you go to? I had a 1/2" - 3/4" tear behind my head (not anywhere near a metal piece/folding part) and they (Courtesy Honda-Sanford) replaced the entire top. I was expecting them to patch the tear, not replace the top.

Classic Honda on Hwy 50 in Orlando was the place I took it to. The Service Manager and some guy from AHM came out and worked me. Told me since I was the second owner (bought it in '04 with 14k miles on it) and I didn't have the extended warranty on it, and didn't bring it in to a Honda Dealer for routine oil changes and maintenance that I wasn't what they considered a loyal customer.

If you look at the mechanism when it moves up, the metal frame rubs on the spot that has the tear. He told me that debris could have caused the rip on the outside and then it could have just worn through that way. At any rate, my view is, the car is two years old, warranty or not, original buyer or not, and it has a very small, very expensive problem.

I've owned two other convertibles in my life, a Mazda Miata, and BMW Z3, never had a problem with the top, never a tear or anything else, and by the time I got rid of them, they had been on the road for a combined 10 years, that's a pretty long life for a convertible top without any problems.

I guess I figured that my Honda top would've lasted at least more than 2 years, and if not I'd expect Honda to back it.

My question to the AHM rep was this, if it happens again in 2 years, what's to say we aren't sitting here having this same conversation again?

His reply was, we won't have this conversation again, we'll totally cover it...... no cost to you what so ever.....

I do like the canvas replacement from Cabrioworld, and plan to go with that once I find someone local to instal it...

Called the one guy finally from an earlier post here in Orlando, and he said he would call me right back, it's been 4 hours, guess I'm just having bad luck all the way around..

Enough of my soap boxing.

Take a drive up to Courtesy Honda in Sanford. I forget the service managers name-see what they can do. It still should be under warrenty.

dmfitz82,
I would love to see what the cabrio world top looks like in person. Does it look just like the OEM 02+ top in canvas? I am needing a replacement very soon.

That's fine w/ me... PM me to set up a time to check it out, if you'd like. It does look identical to the OEM '02+ top's w/ the exception that I think the material looks better. I was going to take some pics tonight, but it's raining like hell right now... No Vtec on the way home in the rain...
