Here's a few pics. None of me on the track. Kindof hard to take pics at 120.
Here's a few of Hard Dog's roll bar. I picked the one that has the removable harness and diagonal. A TON of compliments at the track and I'm betting Tom will be getting a few orders soon.
The hitch is from Chase Race and basically is removable with 3 pins. It's perfect for my use and the tire trailer was a breeze to tow. Re: the Ridgeline. Love the truck but it can't tow crap period. Don't get my started on that subject. Despite what it says in the book it doesn't work.
Having a great time and YES, Roebling has a TON of run off. Wei-Shen heavily recommended it to me because of that. Granted you can screw up any turn but the last turn before the straight away is the only doozie and it's only because people forget they have field to run off into. They over shoot the corner, end up off track, turn too quick on the grass, tires bite the pavement and they run flat into the pit lane wall. Never seen it. Hope I never do but there's some rash on that wall for sure. Heck, there was some NASCAR Texaco car out there Saturday. I'll have to try and snap a pic but if I remember correctly it was number 28...I think. Didn't see the driver but they had one of those fancy double decker trailers, the whole 9.
Quick question on the harness bar, it looks reeeaaallly high in those pics, far above the suggested angle for the belts, but I'm not sure if it's the picture or if it's really that high? It was mounting there so you wouldn
t have you remove the interior it looks like, but not the best bet if the angle really is that steep. Hard dog will mount the bar at any height you want I hope?
I don't want to put a rollbar in the 06, but a 00 S2K is on my list of potential 06S2K replacements because I won't care about cutting/gutting the hell out of it..
Charles - Sorry for forgetting John. I'm terrible with names. I snagged a pic of that NASCAR looking thing I was talking about. #28, Texaco.
Dave- the harness bar is much higher than suggested but it's about the only way to do a straight bar w/o removing the center console which is what Hard Dog would prefer to do and they have bars for that purpose. Now, if you are pretty darn tall like my instructor he's actually fine with the set up I have. Me, I'm tiny by most standards so it's not ideal. One of the instructors has an S and they were talking about getting the Hard Dog but having a larger harness bar with bends that actually went around the center console area.
Yar - thanks. They definitely made a difference this weekend.
Had a blast. Saturday was not my best day. I was just too tired and will never stay in that hotel again. Looked nice but the walls were paper thin. Damn guy in the room next to me woke me up both nights about 3:30 snoring. I even wore ear plugs and had my head buried in pillows last night and he still got me. Anyway, Sunday was a total blast. It got to the point this afternoon where the instructor had me pull in to let the brakes and tires cool. I had done her in. Next session, back out of course. I did manage to pass several more cars today and even lapped a Mazda 3. Okay, that's not saying much but I also passed a Mini, a P-car, and the prize...a Lotus Extige (the silver one below) or however you spell it. Granted there were a few of those out there and the others apparently had far better drivers because I could barely keep up if at all. There was also a Badd A$$ Jeep SRT-8 that was great to get passed by. But best of all...the yellow Dodge Truck. OMG he was fast. He passed a ton of stuff all weekend.
