S2000 is no more...
As of yesterday I am the proud new owner of a 2006 GTI MkV in United Gray Metallic! I was sad to see the S2000 go, but the GTI more than makes up for it! Check it out here: http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/members-...tml#post3049070
We had to drive out of town to pick up this GTI...had three above-average-sized guys in a beige beetle (dealer trade for the GTI).....I bet it looked quite funny to everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLease don't turn into a S2000 basher. The TR post seemed like you might turn. Now people will think the GTI is a better car than the S2000. It is great compared to the new civic SI but not even the same car as an S. Hard to compare.

negcamber, I got the 6-speed manual. From what I've read the DSG is the best transmission south of an F1 (yes, better than some Ferraris). Instead of being an automatic with a torque converter, it's a true manual that's automatically controlled.
The DSG has two clutches (no clutch pedal though). When you shift, one disengages while the other engages at almost the same time. This results in super-quick shifts (0.2 seconds!)
Todd, the commercial is what got me. Funny thing, I had no intention of buying until I drove it...Then I was sold
Jeff, I did leave out a few choice words when I said the GTI is everything the S2000 is. In all essence is S2000 is much more of a sports car than the GTI will ever be, but for my needs the GTI is everything the S2000 was. I love S2000s and plan to own another one day.
These cars are very restricted from the factory! With just an APR Stage I Chip, output jumps to 252whp and 303wtq!
