I just left a message at the GP about gaining permission to use The Trop parking lot first thing Sunday morning per some feedback I got from Chip (captainbk). I've asked them to call me back today so I'll stay on top of that.

Chip, great work on the recon. I most likely will be in the RL this weekend. As some of the guys that attended Willie Gee's last weekend my Vtec is out (easy part to replace) plus I'm having some recovery issues with my hernia surgery - no clutch work for me. I'd love to have "the black mistress" as Bill likes to call her in a group shot with you guys but very doubtful at this point.

I'll update the staging area info with Chip and then to you guys ASAP.

Dinner Saturday night sounds like a good idea btw.

If anyone needs a room, the Hilton still has a couple doubles left as of noon today

FRS radios might be a good idea for the race and meeting up that morning. Someone sugest a frequency to use and we will push it.

Off to do the scouting again.

This might be a bit up 4th St. but there's a cool Blues bar called the Ringside Cafe, I don't think they're open that early (8 AM), but would make a good place to meet and it's easy to find, 2742 4th St N. I'll call them and see if they mind if we all meet there in the morning. We can all meet in the back parking lot.

Ringside Cafe

Maybe go there Saturday and/or Sunday after the race for drinks and dinner, and GOOD music?

Update:

I called them and they're ok with us meeting there in the morning. They don't open 'til 11 in the morning. If you guys want to eat something there and have some coffee they're willing to open at 8 to serve us, however, they don't serve breakfast, just really good sandwiches!

Lemme know!

Well the meter maids in St Petersburg were looking curiously at the red s2k making endless loops through the downtown. The place suggested by the race organizers was small and hard to find. I did find an alternative area just outside the stadium grounds along a side street. There are 16 spaces along the curb. I doubt that at 7:30 -8 am ther is going to be much demand for parking 9 blocks away from the raceway.

New Location :That is about 32 blocks north of where we need to be but it should be easy to find. People coming in from the North could just get off the interstate at 4th st and go south. Coming from the south you could get off at 22nd and head east untill you get to 4th then turn north.

Getting to the track would be a straight shot down 4th St then hang a left on 6th which will putt us at the parking area.

Cone Killa, since you already have permission to use the lot, I think we would not face the hassel of the local police in staking out a temporary claim , I vote we go for that one.

Any thoughts from the group?

I can generate a mapquest to the location and post ASAP
