when i got my engine looked at for the warrenty issue, it was a couple of days. my dealer had to determine if it could be under warranty, then call the warranty ppl, schedule a time for their techs to come out, look at the issue and then write up their conclusion on the coverage that you have. it sucks that you have a rental, in my situation my dealer gave me a rental until the problem was fixed.

Does anyone know the approx labor times for a rear diff replacement?
It's going to be ~3 hours with an experienced tech in my opinion. I figure if it looks like an hour for me, it's 10 minutes with anyone who knows what they're doing. There's also some ABS electronics that are required to be disconnectied during the process (according to the service manual)...

GREAT NEWS.... Should be fixed by friday. It wasnt the whole diff, and to be honest whatever teh guy told me I couldnt understand. Ill post more when I get the work order receipt. The warranty tech did not even come out to look at it. They decided it would be covered over the phone. They are paying for 3 days of my rental car out of 10, but I will take what I can get. I think they said the total was around 900. Ill have to pay for 7 days rental, and 125 deductible. Im still saving some money and Ill have my car back this weekend. Thanks everyone for your concern and help.

Also apparently the guy discovered that my car already has a used diff put in. So it has been replaced once already. Not looking forward to what else is going to break on this car from abuse before me.

Thanks for the update, Zach. That's super news! This might be the best way ever to find out your rear diff was used (maybe it was cannibalized from my previous S - ??). Now at least you might be getting some new stuff

Picked her up this morning. I was suppose to the car saturday morning but alarm clocks are not very kind to me. They didnt have to replace the entire rear. Basically my front pinion bearing was destroyed. Someone abused my poor car before me.

They had to order new bearing assemblys, spacers, 6 allen driveshaft bolts and oil seals.
Part #'s 31,12,29,10,28,11, 32x2
Labor was about 5.5 hours for some reason, I did not think it would take that long.
Warranty did step in a help out though thank god.
Thanks everyone for your concern and advice!

Zach,

Welcome back! Mine is still 'trapped' in the garage until our driveway concrete is fully cured (they said this Tuesday, 2-weeks, and it should be okay to drive on). It's been aweful seeing people with their tops down on good weather days.

Glad your story ended well. Note: be sure to change your rear tranny oil in about 30k miles

Ron
