I've seen a few topics on the main forums about the best stretch of road. There are many awesome roads out there that make me want to take a road trip, but it got me wondering; what are some of the best roads in this region? Not in the entire state, but just in the Gateway region.
My favorite has to be Highway 94 and Hwy F from Francis Howell High to New Melle.
It's a great combination of straights and twisties and virtually no traffic usually. Hwy F does get a bit rough in some places though, it could use resurfacing.
Wolfrum Rd off of 94 is also a very fun stretch but it's too short and there's tons of slow traffic.
The roads that you noted are fun, but just way to short. Wolfrum is my daily drive to work. You need to head further west. One of my favorites is route 19. Here is a route from one of our past day runs. You can pick up Route 19 in Herman and is noted in blue.
I just did Route V in DeSoto earlier today. Fun stretch of road if you're in the area. Probably doesn't compare to some of the other ones you frequent. I'd put it on par with wild horse creek, if not a bit better.
I agree with Wild Horse Creek Rd, it's very nice. I'm not familiar with Route V, but I looked at it on Google maps and it looks fun. I might hit it up next time I'm in the area.
I also like taking Hwy 94 all the way out to Jeff City. There's some really tight twisties when you get up into the hills between Defiance and Washington. The road could use a resurfacing though.
