I'll second the Foristell part. I haven't had a front plate on mine in the 1.5 years I've had it, passed and followed cops many times without them batting an eye. I went to Foristell once to look at a house, and I got a ticket. The cop was bored and sitting in a driveway talking to a state trooper.

No front plate 5 yrs. If a cop has nothing better to do than give a plate ticket maybe he should consult his local drug dealer!!!

Checking in from KC

I have been here 2 years without a front plant and haven't been stopped. I have lots of friends that have no problems also.

It might be because we are right next to Kansas that doesn't require a front plate so seeing cars w/o is common. What's the law in Illinois? I'm guessing they require a front plate...

Illinois also requires front plate. But a MO police offer cannot issue a no front plate ticket to an vehicle with registration from out of state.

About 4 years ago I had an IL plate on my M3 but not on the front and I got a no front plate ticket in Maplewood, MO while it was parked.

I went ahead and paid it. I guess I should have looked into fighting it.

I now have an IL plate on my S2000, but none on front.
What are peoples opinions here of putting it in front of the grill?

I've seen a Vette in MO that actually had the plate behind the grill. You could barely see it, but it was there.

Does anyone think there will be a lack of noticeable cooling/airflow to the AC condenser and the radiator?

Don't think so, but I don't like the looks. IMHO - go Plateless. I have been pulled over several times in 7 years, but have never mbenn harrased for not having front plates. :crossfingers: :knockwood:

bringing this thread back to life.

I got pulled over twice today in less than an hour! first i was driving south on sulphur springs, the police officer was infront of me got into the middle turning lane slowed down waited for me to pass then got behind me and pulled me over. Issued a compliance ticket and sent me on my way. after that I went home to change clothes because I had to be at work at 1 today. Leave my house, start driving east down big bend passing 141 another valley park police officer pulls me over. Before he even walks up I already have the ticket out in my hand and he laughs and says I guess you know why were pulling you over, and sent me on my way.

To anyone driving around ballwin, valley park, manchester beware. All the counties have said for Sept. and Oct. we are enforcing the no plates heavily. and I quote from the police officer, "It has become an epidemic and and the surrounding counties will be cracking down on any one driving with no front plates, so tell all of your friends."

What really sucks, is I had Stephen Vincel Honda cover up my bumper plugs so I have no way of mounting my front plate. So Im just trying to look for a quick fix to hold me down for 2 months or so, any suggestions?

Bummer - Got a grill yet... If so, zip tie your plates to your grill.

There is discussion that it hampers the air flow, put probably only if you track your car. Quite a few threads in S2000 Talk. Just key in "Grill Plates" and read some of the threads

Got a ticket last weekend for 15 over (he said he dropped it to that) on my way home after the drive. All I got was a "holy moly... where are you goin?"

Half an hour on the side of the road with three Camden countys finest and none of them noticed the lack of a front plate. I'm not complaining- just still trying to figure out how they missed it.

BTW- first ticket in 14 years and I'm going to get it thrown out because the cop told me up front he was not going to go to court. Why would he openly tell me that?
