I too am only 19 and I pay $188 per month. I have one weather related claim on my record and no tickets. The best rates I could find were through Safe Co. When I was with Erie I only (ha ha only) paid about $1900 per year but they dropped me with a letter saying "due to its high horsepower and low curb weight" and "...Our claims experience shows that these autos become involved in more accidents than vehicles with less horsepower" "... We can no longer insure applicants of your age on such a vehicle."

Insurance will be expensive for you at 19 if you have the S as your daily drive. I have 3 cars in the family (MY01, 96 Berretta Z26, and a Saturn and pay $1200/yr for all 3). Im also 45 and carry USAA which, unless you are associated with the military, you will be unable to get. My record is also pretty clean.

A suggestion for you may be to buy a "Beater" Car as your daily driver and register your S as a "Pleasure Vehicle" you will/should get several discounts for that.

put the s in your parents' name and insure it under them. have a beater like mike says, and insure it with liability only. that's how we insured my son's gsr.

Have a call out to the agent, waiting for a reply. We also have three cars. The S is labeled as a "pleasure vehicle", even though it is really a daily drive.

Will update you with costs when available...

My insurance is pretty cheap. I'm only 23 and I have a good record. It also probably helps that I own 2 houses and 4 cars that are insured with the same company. You get discounts for all that extra stuff.

Insurance people may not be my friends right now... However, our last bill was for $458/6-months on the Honda through AmFam. Once you pick your favorite company/agent, never make a claim and they'll be your best friends.

Best of luck!

I used to have my insurance through USAA and the rate on the S as a third car was around $450. I switched to Progressive and saved 10%.

BTW - 30yrs old, no accidents/tickets in the last three yrs (knock on wood).
