Ok, I give in. It doesn't really stand for anyshing. It's simply the chassis code, which is also part of the VIN.

For instance, some common examples are Integras and Civics. They are often referred to by their chassis codes: DAs, DBs, DCs for Integras and I think most Civics start with an E, like EG, EK, EP, etc. Those are all chassis codes for different generations which also indicate what year range, trim line and number of doors the car has.
