Default Suffering from the 2nd to 3rd grind

For the past couple of weeks my tranny has been showing the symptoms of the second to third grind posted in many threads on this board. Replaced my tranny fluids with Red Line MT-90 Manual Transmission Lubricant and MY01 shifts like butter now. An unbelievable difference with a very smoooooooth shift! While I had the car up, I also changed out the Diff fluids using Lubrication Engineers LE-607 90W Almasol Gear Oil.

I was really amazed when I took it for a drive after the fluid change-out. What a difference.

Mike,

Wasn't one of those fluids not supposed to be changed away from the Honda fluid? Keep me posted as I need to do the same thing personally. Just turned 26K miles on the car this morning on my drive in!

Oh, and the mystery Spa Yellow car that I saw at the gym turned out to be owned by a friend of mine. They bought a Miata when I had mine, now I bought an S2000 and then they turned around and did the same!

I've heard both sides of the story, so I decided to make the change from Honda fluid to a higher performance fluid. Guaranteed that I will keep my eye on it closely.

About the SPA yellow friend of yours... Get them interested in this club. We need to get our membership, events, meets moving.

Was thinking of getting some cards printed up. Have seen seeing quite a few S's around the area. Think they just don't know about us.

My gear changes are anything but smooth. I would like to see how this stuff works over time and then give it a try.

Put 100 miles on it this weekend. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it even feels smoother now.

I forgot to mention that I also switched ot the copper and steel washers in the Diff. Was forced to purchase 3 pair. I have two set available for anyone that wants the. $1 per set (2 washers; 1 copper/1 steel)

I've put on 250 +/- miles on the car since the fluid change and it is still shifting very smoothly.

Bill... Let me know if you need a fluid pump to change out your fluid when it arrives. You are more than welcome to use mine. Using the "tape tube to bottle" approach is a bit messy.

How long does it take to change out the fluid? Is it hard?

Took about 20 minutes for the tranny and another 20 minutes for the differencial. Since I had the car up anyway, I decided to do both and save some time. It's pretty much a piece of cake to do. I have all the tools, jacks, fluid pump, new washers to get this done.

Since Bill already ordered the Tranny fluid, and you and Greg are thinking about it... I think it's time to have an Install Day or should I say Fluid changeout day.

Thoughts...

Here are some threads which I think will answer your questions.
First read this: Tranny Grind

Then this:Tranny Fluid Change

Then this:Diff Fluid Change
