Default I'm locked out of 5th gear!

I was driving home today and 5th gear got a little sticky going in and out of the gear, then it finally just locked me out. What could the problem be. I just changed my diff fluid- could that have anything to do with it?

I highly doubt the diff fluid had anything to do with this. It's been reported here before about this issue. In that case, the tranny's 5th gear shift piece had bent and broken off, necessitating the tranny to be disassembled and a new piece put in. Hopefully, yours is just a fluke and it will come back the next time you drive it. Can you get into 6th? Checked the tranny fluid level?

I can get into 6th fine. I havent checked my tranny fluid because my car only has 15k miles on it. I will check it when I get a chance. I really hope that its not a real problem with my tranny. I have spent months organizing an s2k/nsx run and it is this sunday.

Good luck to you!
To check it should be simple enough. Just jack up the car, remove the fill bolt, lower the car and see if anything falls out. If not, you'll have to somehow get under there to stick you finger in to feel for where the level is.
Can you get it into 5th with the car OFF, sitting still, clutch in?
You can always still go on your drive. Just don't use 5th - UNLESS you are low in tranny fluid, then just top it off.

Thanks. Im gonna take it out to the dealer tomorrow before work to see if they can identify the problem. I have to let someone else test drive my car so they can verify the problem :shudder:
