Default Time Trial at Grattan

Hey guys,

I spent that past weekend up in Michigan running NASA Time Trials. I posted a write-up in the R&C forum, including some links to on board video

FormulaRedline - I burned the laptop battery watching all those videos! Hey - I recall hearing a particular noise each time you were about a third of the way into that long striaght away. Any chance your speed there was about (or greater than?) 120 mph?

Great job! sounds like you had a blast blowing the doors off that Mustang and M3 (and others).

p.s. - someone told me about that noise - I never actually heard it myself.

Are we talking actual 120mph or speedo indicated 120mph? Either way, it wouldn't happen until the end of the straight, right before the braking zone. If you heard strange noises on the video, it might have been a small amount of rear tire/fender rub on some of the bumpier sections.

Glad you enjoyed the videos

Thanks for sharing the Vids. Those were awesome. Congrats on the Win! Amazing how the mustang pulled away on the straight, but at the first turn, you were right back on their butt. Sweet moves.

nice job FormulaRedline - However - I might add there may have been a bit of 'extra' adrenaline going after you past the second car in the last vid (the M3 - Hey just watching the video got me going!) - your immediate next curve seemed a bit wild compared to your previous (many) controlled/patient turns...

That particular whistling noise is only heard at high speeds (IMO) especially with the top down - (probably at about 10 mph, for me!)

Good eye After I passed the M3 (my closest competition for the day) I found my eyes kept going to the mirrors more than they should have. He was pitted next to me and I had been talking to him all weekend, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't holding him up from getting clean laps. As I result, I lost my concentration. After the video ends I let the the M3 and Mustang back by and slow down to try and get some clear track for a few more hotlaps, but the session ended.

I posted a question on the other link, let me know how you ran hardtop on/off? Soft top up/down? Have you ever compared time either way?

Sorry, I completely missed the question! I posted an answer in the other thread, but long story short: no, I don't have a good comparison of the differences.
