She doesn't take as many pics and she used to, so she is pretty happy with it. She's had it for about a year now.

Will probably end up buying her another point and shoot camera to replace the old one she has.

you can probaly get an xt kit for 400. And that is a good starter camera.
Only because the XT doesn't have very good evaluative metering. The user is going to grow out of it fairly quickly. The XTi is quite a bit better and only a little more money.
