Skip, I do think it was an appropriate punishment for his crimes and am not against the fact that he was hanged. What I hate is that Fox has already announced it plans to air the footage just as soon as they can get their hands on it... which I'm sure is the same for the other networks. I understand that the event holds great historical importance but it just seems like a really bad idea to me when we speak out so loudly against Al Jazeera when they broadcast something that hits closer to home.

Traditional hanging versus beheadings. For shock value, one ranks much higher than the other. I personally believe it would not be prudent to make light of the spectacle that was his end.

I agree... one is much more shocking and one is much better justified. This is why I have mixed feeling over the situation that's about to come up with media coverage.

I started to watch the video but stopped the download as it was just a little too morbid for me.

Aaron, I cannot say that I'm ecstatic about the hanging. I know that is probably a shock to many of you. Do I believe it is the just reward? Yes. Do I think his finality is anti-climatic? Sadly, yes.

I feel that it is good that it was carried out quickly. Less anguish... less chance of intervention. I think many people need to see/feel that an era of atrocities has symbolicly ended. The US should not be among them. His transgressions were not against us. Today, we have won nothing. His death by execution is not a feather in our cap. The fact that we captured him was.
