I know what you are thinking... I can block it with my knee but I have to do it intentionally.

I think it sounds really good. It is because of these speakers that I haven't been in such a rush to get the stereo swaped out. Even with the OEM head unit...

I would rather ask and look like and idiot then waste hours trying to figure it out and feel like an idiot.

I honestly couldnt tell if it was a lock nut or a place to "hold" the shifter, if you will, while you torqued on the knob.

There's a locking nut on the bottom. Either hold the knob and unscrew that or vice-versa.

According to Rick's site:
Simply release the lock nut at the base of the stock shift knob. Unscrew (counter clockwise) the stock shift knob.
