Default Calling Chris - AnimeS2K

Getting your approval on some camera equipment:

Canon 350D Rebel XT with grip

Tokina Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124AF Pro DX Autofocus Lens
Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO HSM Autofocus Lens
Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens
Canon Telephoto EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Autofocus Lens
Canon Macro 100mm f2.8 USM Autofocus Lens - wouldn't buy this right away
Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 fisheye - wouldn't buy this right away

I'm looking for fast stuff and good picture quality at not huge prices. I will be handholding the camera most of the time, and about 95% of my shooting is done outdoors. I'm looking at the prime stuff for more specialized shots - portraits.

To buy everything on that list new plus a big enough bag and fast enough memory card I'm looking at just under $3,000 shipped before rebates. I would like to stay in this ballpark, but want to get other suggestions or a

SLR is new to me.

That's cheap for good SLR equipment - if I could afford what I really want it'd be more to the tune of $20,000++++

Canon Digital Rebel XT - $800 for body

Tokina Wide Lens 12-24mm f/4 - $500

Sigma Telephoto 70mm-200mm f2.8 - $800

Canon Prime 50mm f1.8 - $80

Canon Prime 85mm f2.8 - $340

Canon Macro 100mm f2.8 - $470

The stuff I really want can be found here: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews...ns-Reviews.aspx - just the ones with the red stripe on the lens <----those vary from about $1,000 to $6,000 each.

is the picture quality (something i can't modify in photoshop) on these cameras really that different then a standard camera that you can get for like 500 bucks or so??

are you planning on doing some professional photography?? or just have money to spare for a hobby?

If you can replace picture quality in PS, then I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Some of the stuffI shoot is for web sites, so I guess you could call it somewhat professional. A $500 camera does not even come close to comparing to a good SLR camera. If it did I think National Geographic photographers would be carrying one camera in their pockets instead of a backpack (or two) full of pounds of equipment.

well there's little things in PS that you can do to enhance a picture.... it's not going to be drastic but it does help to make the picture better and more crisp/focused........
