Woohoo - came yesterday.

The horse is there for lens comparisons, and I didn't change any of the camera settings to throw the kit lens on for that shot.

I'm gonna go with what some other said on the Canon 50mm prime. My only other lens is the 28-105mm f/4 (maybe 4.5, I can't remember). It was a great starter lens because of the broad range that it covers, but not it's not very fast..

That Canon 50mm f1.8 II is an incredible lens for $70

I still find myself reaching for it while I'm inside.

Okay, I have now completed my camera expenditures for a while

Here are the goods:
Man, I don't like thinking about this list - I started buying that stuff on December 17th!

Here's a shot for a "Post your boxes" thread on another forum from earlier today:

    daaaaamn! you went all out!

skip the microdrives, man! go CF all the way. Microdrives are too unreliable (subject to shock, etc) and SLOW!

Sandisk Ultra2 or Extreme all the way:
    http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_pag...p?cid=6007-7303

    For example, your two cards:
Sandisk Ultra II 512MB JPEG WRITE: 4.963MB/sec CRW WRITE: 5.609MB/sec
Hitachi MD 4GB JPEG WRITE: 3.691MB/sec CRW WRITE: 3.587MB/sec
    formatted FAT32 with 32K cluster size8

Serious speed difference there, especially when shooting burst or in quick succession, your buffer will fill up fast.

I know, price.. but.. $179/4GB is a deal until your drive crashes or pictures get corrupted... $179/2GB Sandisk Ultra II (amazon prices) is not a bad deal. I have shot as many as 600 photos in a full day at Hyperfest without much in-field editing... A couple of 2GB cards would do you well (or a collection of smaller 512/1gb cards).

Congrats again on the insane purchasing spree.

    Thanks Chris

I'm running with the Microdrive for now. It is a tad slower, but I'm not going Japanese on the shutter either - the Sandisk is for that.

If the Microdrive fails, then I'll get another Sandisk UII.
