Uh... After Google'ing around... This seems like a HUGE issue and every one needs to remove their credit cards from their XBL accounts immediately.

Important You can’t remove a credit card that is associated with an active Xbox LIVE membership. If you try to remove the credit card associated with an active Xbox LIVE membership, you will be prompted to add a new payment option for your membership.

Disable auto-renewal. You should then be able to remove it. (Or call them if that has changed.)

If you don’t want to add another payment method, call Xbox Support for help removing your payment method. When you call, please have your gamertag and payment information available.
If you still have trouble, get a new card/number from your bank. Seriously... Google around. I believe that there is a yet announced/published exploit targeting XBL accounts.

I received no such response, however, I have Paypal as an option - maybe that is why. I've only used either to obtain points on the fly.

Membership renewals, etc I usually do through those prepaid cards you get through Amazon, etc.

PayPal is probably worse as the buyer protection is a joke. Your credit card probably provides better protection, plus, if PayPal is associated with your checking account you are doubly-screwed.

I just went through it in December. (Removing my CC and disabling auto-renewal.) It seems to have saved me a lot of grief as these hackers are stealing hundreds of dollars worth of MS points while they have illicit access to your XBL account.
