looks like he used 1/4 inch hardibacker under the tile... good choice

just out of curosity.. how much per tile did it cost to install that? Is that how he charged you? (by sq ft?) I really like the border he put around the kitchen... thats a nice little touch thats not that easy. what color grout are you using? probably charcoal... something dark?

every thing looks real nice

Install cost is $5/sqft, tile was $5/sqft... except the edge bullnose pieces @ $6/ea.

We're going with a neutral/dark standard sort of slate tile grout color.

Thanks guys. We saw it yesterday cleaned up and sealed, pre-grout and it's really amazing. He decided to seal it before grouting since it's so porous. And grouting can't happen until the cabinets are in, since he's got to grout up to the kickplates and edges... So we wait... The electrician is the holdup now.
