Engine and Transmission oils...
Here's another oil related question.
My car is just at 3700 mi. Should I change the oil now or wait til it breaks in a little more?
I called Honda, and they recommended that I keep the oil in the car for another 3500 miles. They did say that the engine is probably broken in already, but they were trying to stress that the oil the car ships with has special additives to help the break in process.
When I told them my car is already 5 months old, they said not to worry about changing the oil every 3 months if the vehicle is driven every day.
What? I thought oil breaks down after a while. Oh well. This is the second time that someone told me not to worry about leaving the oil in the car too long if I drive it every day. The three month thing only applies if the vehicle is not being driven on a regular basis.

Oil does break down. I changed mine every 2000 miles (I'm anal on oil change. Oil is cheap compared to a engine rebuild or replacement) with Honda's oil and OEM filters until I made 7000 miles for the engine break in. Then I switch over to Amsoil and filters (change every 3000 to 4000 miles. Amsoil recommends filter change every 6 months add a quart and complete oil and filter change every 12 months). Mobil 1 is also a very good synthetic oil which would be my second choice.
Driving in Hawaii is very hard on vehicle motors as we have a lot of stop and go traffic, mostly short drives and the real killer of motors is the starting it.
The above is just my opinion.
