Default Rust!

I forgot to mention this before I traded in the S2000, but I found small rust bubbles in the paint inside the fuel door opening. It was at the bottom on the lip that's a part of the fender (the flat bottom before it's outside of the fuel door opening - not on the fuel door). For those that know me, I polished the car every week. Although I only polished that area about three times in two years, I would always wipe it dry after washing. Just a heads up, make sure you wax/polish inside the fuel door!

I guess this means the rust inhibitor doesn't work...
What an unusual spot for the rust to form.
Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll make sure to wipe the fuel filler area... twice or more or something

There is a welded seam there, and I know this is a cheap shot, but since you now have a Nissan, don't you think you should be more forgiving of such things?

Nissan is questionable, but Infiniti is GREAT!

Hey!!! Actually I expected better rust protection from Honda. My '88 Integra didn't show signs of rust until 9 years of ownership. My '98 Accord Coupe didn't have any rust in the two years I owned it. I thought it was strange that after owning the S2000 for almost two years, it had rust. Had I kept the car, I would have pointed that out on my two year maintenance, and had them fix it.

As for Nissan/Infiniti, I don't think there's any manufacturer without problems showing up. I have a little brake squeal from the Brembo's, and Infiniti is going to swap out the pads for different ones. They gave me a G35 sedan for a loaner and I had a lot of fun beating up that car.

Actually the sorst rusting car I had was my '88 MR-2 SC. The rocker panels behind each door tended to hold water and rust badly. Ohterwise, never kept a car long enough to have a serious problem.
