I'll tell you a story about recon. Two of my previous cars, I got pulled over by HPD. I had my recon papers, all legit, cop told me that some of the mods on my vehicle were not listed on my recon papers. The officer told me that the recon would was void cause of it. He took my papers away and scraped off my recon sticker. Two times!, I waste my time getting recon in the first place, it's hard to pass. Dam cops give you no leeway. That was enough for me. Now, no need recon. Recon is a joke, it's a another thing for the state to make money. It's funny, we are the only island in hawaii that has a recon law. Like one of the other board member posted, Fawk recon.... Also I have seen a few cop cars running around town with blue hybrid headlight bulbs in there headlights, dark tint and clear corners. They ain'nt got no recon sticker on there vehicle... my 2 cents...

 

Some of you guys remember this, A while back in late 90's there use to be this cop named Mike Hunt, no joke real name, he was stantioned in waiphau, real bad ass. He would tag every car with any type of mod on car, little or big. There were a lot of complaints about this cop, boiling down to harrasment for people who live in the waipahu area. Sonic motorports was putting some petition together to do some thing about this cop. A lot of people were talking about taking legal actions against him. I don't know if anybody followed through or not, but In the end I heard he got transfered to another division in HPD. Curry, I think taking legal actions may be a pain in the ass in the long run. But you never know...

 

hunt is still around. last i heard he was a solo biker.....

 

hahahaha with a name like mike hunt no wonder the guy is such a prick! its his way of "giving back to the community" for all the years he was probably ripped on...

 

hahaha funny you should talk about mike hunts punk a$$.......... He is no longer a biker because not even the bikers wanted him if you can believe that Man I remember that petition at sonics I myself ran into him many of times in my prelude. He gave me in one sitting 14 tickets which took him 45 mins to hand out. He was such an a$$ he even taged me for each window. I had 5% mirror tint around layed on black 5% and 35% front but what was so funny is when he tried to take that meter they carry and see if my tint was legal well he tried but because of the mirror tint, it kept bouncing off and reading 0% hahaha he was getting so fustrated that he just gave it to me anyway... I see him in Kapolei and he is now a sgt. He was a cpl for so long as I remember lol

14 tickets in one session?! How many got tossed in court?
We need to mount some kind of protest. The HPD has definitely got too much idle time on their hands if they can persecute car enthusiasts with such malice.

My story pales in comparison to all of yours. I've put my front plate back on. If they still pull me over when I'm just trying to get back to my home, I will definitely fight.

 

I won all the tickets except the no front lic. Have you ever wondered how come we get tickets for no front lic. but then motorcycles don't need front lic. I used that in court a few times I even said to the judge that the way the front lic. is mounted on my car, it is restricting the air flow to my radiator thus causing my car to over heat and in turn not run properly I know the judge just wanted to tell me that you are so full of chit hahaha it was worth the try

 

Dam, Hunt is still around... He one bad mofo. I'm sure there is other HPD officers like him running around. Yea I got tagged by him once, 12 tickects one sitting. One of my buddy back in the day got 20 something... Real deal, I saw his stack of tickets. Some of them he fought and won, the rest he had to pay a arm and a leg.
