soft top
that is very much true jdm rsx. it is not an easy repair to perform on your own, and the labor time to perform that particular repair pays @ least 10HR's. i've done that repair before, and it's not something you just want to dive into to save money on getting the repair done. take into consideration that a lot of things have to be removed in order to complete this repair. following is a list of some of the things that will need to be removed in order to perform this repair:
both front seats, shifter console, center console storage, a few panels behind the seats, roll bar bezels, two gussets, center tray, two side trays, a whole ton of bolts/screws and clips just to name a few...
to complete this repair on your own, i recommend that you be able to have the car down for a least a day, two at most. patience is another important factor. finesse, because i don't think you want to be breaking any of your parts, a repair manual, and being able to fit into tight areas. that will come into play when removing the center/side trays, center console storage, and actual soft top retaining nuts. hope this helps you in deciding what you really want to do. replace the soft top and install a glass back, or, hard top.
another thing to keep in mind that the soft top replacement will definintely be cheaper, because a hard top alone sells for approx $4K over the counter.
i personally would remove the soft top assy and install a hard top. that would give you a slight reduction in vehicle weight, not to mention, you'd have the hard top too. but that's just me, i guess i like having a hard top...
