Default Calling InlinePro bros

Hey guys! Nothing major, but i thought id share some issues that have come up due to heat.....Some of you know iv had my car in the shop. While there my mechanic noticed my fuse box was melting due to the heat coming from the turbo. Also he found the motor mount right below the turbo was shot. He fabbed a heat shield for the motor mount and wrapped it with a heat wrap. I also bought a ARC fuse box heat shield. Id recommend both to avoid a similar problem. Here are a couple of pics....

You cant see the fabbed shield, just the heat wrapping....

You cant see in the pics, but theres a piece of the HS that goes in front of the turbo

^^ I have that same ARC heatshield and we were planning on trying to use it with the InlinePRO kit and notch it out like that. Does it rattle at all?

Also, what exactly did your mech do to fab the heat shield for the motor mount?

The HS doesnt rattle at all...Def recommend...

He fabbed a piece of metal over the motor mount. Then wrapped it with the heat wrap. Next time its on the left i will take a pic. Between that and the fuse box HS he did an awesome job...

Thanks for the infot

That motor mount is already shot for me

I'm just afraid at how much its going to cost in labor to have that thing (or all of the motor mounts) replaced... having to take off the turbo, undo the motor, remove mounts, install mounts, put the motor back in, put the turbo back on...

Makes me want to cry just thinking about it...

How long did it take to cook the motor mount?

I don't think mine was cooked... I think mine was just sagging from the 90,000 miles on the car

The heat towards the end might have cooked it a bit, but didn't actually make it go bad for me.

Naveed,

Instead of replacing your mounts you might want to consider fabbing (or buying) an engine torque brace. It will keep the engine and tranny from wanting to turn over during hard acceleration and you won't hardly notice the mount is broken anymore. You're probably going to rebuild at some point in the next 50k miles anyway...just do them then.

Know what I mean?

Hmmm good idea, thanks

Would an engine torque brace make the ride harsher? Meaning, will the car vibrate and shake more when the motor is running?

Interesting...I had my motor mount on that side break too. My mechanic noticed it when he had everything out and I was switching from my Ultimate Racing kit to my Lovefab kit. Is that caused by heat or vibration or what? I only had 30 something thousand miles at the time.

Its probably a combo of both. But my mech thought mine was more from the heat from the turbo being right on top of it.
