5.5 Quart oil change - is this typical?
I used to just take it to dealer but for the first time, I change the oil myself (MOBIL 1) and notice that it takes up to 5.5 Quart to top up the oil.
Is this typical for those of you who change your own oil?

Mine took 5.5 qts., too. I was cautious and stopped at 4.5 qts. until I could get a good reading (clean oil is a bitch to read - used a 10x eye loop). Put the rest in and still needed another .5 qt.
We might be draining better than the typical dealer/quick oil change joint...

Same here I changed mine Thursday at 5000 miles and it took around 5.5 quarts of Mobil1 with a PureOne filter. The oil was kind of thick where the filter was mounted. I wiped that all clean before mounting the new filter. I am glad I changed the oil at 5k and wow that filter was hard to get off.
I wonder if jacking the car up in the front with the standard jack helps drain out more of the dirty oil?
