Just an FYI....
for those running the AEM....
I have read that most of you are idling at a pretty high RPM... I would just like to inform everyone that I am currently Idling and 950 RPM and I am not stalling any more.....

Before I proceed to write a long 'how to' I was wondering if anyone was interested..only because I hate to type and I'm kindda busy at work....

I have an EMS and am idling high. I would be interested in hearing it. How long is your crank time when you start the car?

 

I'm idling at about 1300. I'd appreciate any instructions on how to get it reliabily lower.

 

I had mine at 950 as well but I did not tune it. I have put it up 1300 to get rid of some small rattles. Info would be great on what is done.
Beroz did you ever get my reply on how to set the CEL?

 

Mine cranks after 2 full cranks. U can adjust your crank timing for that. I started out at 2 degrees and now I am at 5 /6 and it starts fine......
For the Idle... I have included in this post a snap shot of what my graph looks like... the key to not stalling is in you % idle learn and the figure you have in your idle % VS target table......
You should set the learn value such that it is between +1 - +3. when you are adjusting the table make sure taht the car is not reding off you cold start tables.....
continuously change the figure on your idle table till you are within the +1 - +3 range of your idle learn.....
as far as stalling due to voltage drop... there is a section in the AEM that you can adjust.. I will take a snap shot of that next.....

This is a snap shot of other idle properties. As you can see I set my high idle car speed to 2 MPH.... You will have to enable your VSS to use this feature....
It is also important to set your idle FIB at a desired range... this will allow the EMS to work in closed loop within this range....
More importantly the A/CA comp value... For me at least this is a car by car value...
you would want to turn on your A/C full blast and also turn on all your electrical stuff.... adjust your values such that your car those not stall....



please remember this is not a full science and it requires alot of iterations....
And that is pretty much it......

oh BTW... I am running 850 CC injectors with the alaniz head... the car idles like stock
