Did four baseline pulls on my stock 2001 S2K Saturday on a Dynojet measuring SAE corrected rear wheel power, with large fans blowing 25 mph of fresh air into the nose. My car has 4,100 miles on it. Having seen hp numbers on this board between 190 and 205, I was pleased to see 201 hp and 132 torque. We waited about 15 minutes to stablize the temps and ran with the air box cover off. I was surprised to see a slight gain with 204 peak hp and 134 torque, but the truth was in the low rpm range which showed slightly less torque and a 12hp loss from 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. From 5,800 - 8,000 the curves were virtually the same, with the 3 hp gain occuring only at the peak of 8,300. This seems to support opinions on this board that the cover off sounds great, but hurts overall performance.

BTW, my brother-in-law ran his tweaked 89' Thunderbird Super Coupe and posted 259 hp and 349 torque at the wheels. His bolt on speed parts increased power at or above what the vendor promised. At last, an honest salesman!

The hood was closed down to the safety catch, but not completely closed due to the engine hook ups. That small gap probably allowed more cool air in.
