Top down without the parking brake?
I've heard a few rumors but haven't found anything written up about it. Is it possible to defeat the parking brake safety for the convertible top? As in, can I modify it so I that I can put my top down or up while rolling with the parking brake down? Any info would be great, I'm surprised there isn't more about this.
Also, what peices do I need to do the auto-up/down mod for the top? Two autoloc modules? What type? Do I buy them from Autoloc? or was there a group buy I missed?
Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks.

There seem to be plenty of threads about this... search for "parking brake top" or similar.

The idea generally doesn't seem to have gotten very favorable responses, tho...

Ok, thanks. So it looks like the answer is 'yes, it can be done.' But no one has really tried it. I'm of the opinion that would be useful except if you ever had a problem with the top. Any other ideas?
I've disabled the speed sensor but kept the parking brake safety. You can pull the parking brake one notch to get the light to come on and allow the top to come up. The speed sensor is the trick... Remove that and you can put the top up and down with just one click of the parking brake! Why not just remove both safety's? To me, the parking brake is kind of like Microsoft's "Are you sure you want to...?" warnings.
I'd hate for someone to just hit the switch while I'm driving down the interstate and before I know it the car behind me is wearing my top!
By the way, I have loved having this set up! It's very convenient in SC with the afternoon thunderstorms. If it starts on your way home from work, you can start putting your top up before you come to a complete stop. I did it at an interstate rest stop one day. Just pulled off the interstate, drove through the rest stop, and pulled right back on the interstate without ever coming to a complete stop! I remember seeing 32mph on the speedometer while doing that!
It had no troubles but I really wouldn't recommend that high of a speed. I think anything around 20 or below should be fine though...
That's my $.02
