I have the same DCI. The wire in question carries the signal from the speed sensor to the convertible top module. If you cut it between your connection to the DCI and the top module, you'll be fine. I took the connector apart and remove the whole wire and pin from the connector.

In my case, I got caught in a sudden rain in the middle of atlanta traffic. I could not get over to the shoulder, and we were traveling at about 15-20 mph. I got soaked before I could get over to the shoulder, stop, put on the e-brake and put the top up. Bypassing the speed sensor would have let me pull up the e-brake one click, then raise the top before getting completely soaked.

More than once, I have started the car, released the brake, and THEN tried to operate the top (even though I was stopped) Grrr!

Although operating it while pulling to a stop in a parking lot, would save me a lot of time.

Part of me wants to disable both, but I am sure that would not be wise.

Thanks for the info SC_Highlander.

Mmmm...... You may be on to something here. I need to figure out a good place to mount a small switch. Mabey I can find something small enough to go near the HU, or perhaps just hidden under the driver's dash. Mmm.... Glove Box.

Now you have me thinking!

What about the passenger window shut off? That little switch on the drivers door that is suppose to limit the passenders window. That could be an optimal spot for a safety swith, just mess with the wires a little.
