Speed Bleeder thread sealant: any alternative?
Would teflon tape work, or is there an equivalent product to Speed Bleeder's red sealant that would be available in a local autoparts store?
Ry, I've never had a problem with Speed Bleeders for two years (no leaks, no air), and I bleed at every track event and sometimes after, so a lot. The reason I am having to replace the sealant on one is because I replaced a caliper and am reusing the old Speed Bleeder (once you remove it completely the sealant is shot). I'll try the teflon tape, thanks.
I haven't had any problems with the Speed Bleeder myself, but since we have a real power bleeder now, I'm going to go back to stock. Pipe thread sealant should work fine. Put some on and let it dry.
