Default Maintenance Req'd light....

Just wondering, when you guys start your engines, does your "maintenance required" light flash a while before disappearing? I just noticed this because one time I was driving, and the maintenance light started flashing, then turned off. And now I dont know if that light should flash when starting the car. It flashes for like 5 secs before shutting off...
I'm due for an oil change, that wouldn't have anything to do with it... will it? Thanks....

The light will keep blinking until you reach the maintenance mileage and it will light solid. Who ever does the maintenance will reset it, or you can follow the instructions in the faq link :

The FAQ needs to be fixed a tiny bit.

The secret is holding the reset button and turning the key to the next position. It does not specify that in the manual

You don't turn the key from the "lock" position to the "accessory" position. It needs to go all the way to "on." Oh, this IS specified in the manual. Mine says so on page 63, I think.

After turning the key to "on" I had to hold down the "trip" button longer than 15 seconds. Did it take this long for anyone else? I know 15 seconds isn't all that long, but when you're expecting the light to just go away after 2 or 3 seconds 15 is an eternity

Just had an oil change done at 7200 miles by the dealer, shouldn't they have reset this light? It still blinks at start-up. I don't believe they actually changed the oil

My dealer didn't reset the light, but the oil did get changed. See if your oil is clean if you're worried.
