Top Speed in Each Gear AP2?
i've had my car now for about three weeks and i'm still under 600 miles. i was wondering what the top speed is in every gear at redline and how many rpms do we have to play with until the limiter kicks in? my celica showed a 7800rpm redline but would cut off at 8400.

that can't be right! 151mph top speed. AP1 doesn't hit the rev limiter until about 165-170mph.....
Remember that fuel cut is actually around 8200rpms for the AP2, and that calculator sets up the "stock" setting redline at 8000rpms. The only reason I point this out is that I've trapped 101.98mph in a stock AP2 at a drag strip and I never shifted out of 4th gear before I crossed the line. According to that calculator, my 4th gear should be topping out at 99.5mph at redline.
But yeah, that calculator is a good tool to use, especially when you want to see what effect changing your final drive gear will have on your max speed in each gear.

I'm not going to argue with math and science being as I'm an engineer, but my real world experience says those figures are low by about 1-2 mph in each gear. It's not much to make a fuss over, but since no one with an AP2 has chimed in I thought I'd bite on it.

It's right. Go to the AP1 chart and knock off 1000 rpm off the top and see what you get.
I can't imagine any car made redlining in top gear at only 151mph......hell, the car actually has the power to get to 151mph so it came from the factory "top speed limited due to gearing"??
Has anyone run their S2000 on the dyno in 6th just to see what the top speed would be?
