Shifting from 2nd (redline 9k rpm) to 3rd is about 2700 rpm drop.
Shifting from 2nd (redline 9k rpm) to 6th... is about 5000 rpm? drop.
That means 6th gear synchro has to deal with that.
Shifting from 5th (redline 9k rpm) to 6th is about the same 2700 rpm drop, that is what the 6th gear synchro was designed for.
I may have the revs wrong.. it is about the principle.

When I'm slowing down at a red light and say I'm in 4th, I keep it in 4th instead of neutral or downshifting. Sometimes the light changes to green before I stop, so I shift from 4th to 2nd, but my speed is totally in 2nd gear range. That's cool right?

Nothing new here. This has been discussed many times and members of this forum have been warned about the consequences of skip shifts (as well as mis-shifts) since I joined this Forum almost 3 years ago. Why do people still think it's OK to do this?

Because owners of S2000s aren't static. There are new owners all the time, so we need to be chills about inexperienced people. I still don't know a lot of stuff after 5 months of ownership. I'm sure xviper, God bless his soul, doesn't know every single detail either.

I have been guilty of skip shifting my whole life and I have never had a problem in any transmission ever!
This is just a Honda thing (design flaw) and therefore people not indoctrinated are doing what comes naturally.
