Default Just installed my new Pioneer DEH-P880prs

With the help of the DIY and a friends advice, I was able to install a new headunit myself with little problems.

IMO, it is very easy to do this. Might be a little scary for first timers, but once you do it once, it'll feel like cake afterwards.

A few tricky areas that aren't explained clearly in the DIY.

1. You will have to match up/crimp most of the wires from the harness you buy with the new HEADUNIT harness. After this is completed, one end will connect to the oem harness and the other into the new headunit.

I wraped the crimped areas with electrical tape for protection and to hold it together better. I also went ahead and crimped the wires that I didn't use also for protection and later use. exp: blue amp wire and orange/white wire ( for my pioneer, the orange wire from the new harness actually matches up with the orange/white wire from the pioneer harness. These are the illumination wires.) They will be labeled.

2. The oem brackets has 2 tabs on each one that will most likely have to be filed down in order to screw it on the new HU. Will also have to use the screws provided with your new headunit.

Those are the only areas that I ran into trouble with. Well not really trouble, but the hardest part of installing a new HU. Everything was fairly easy. Plug and play after that.

Should I attempt to install and run the wiring for 2 amps, a subwoofer, and components??? Hmm, that might be more challenging..lol

I was actually gonna take pictures, but my digi cam was out of batteries when i was doing the install. It was pretty straight forward though. I looked at Lucids DIY. That helped for the most part, but there were some missing info that I wanted to let ppl know about.

If you have any questions, I can help. Yea, this deck is really awesome.
