Kenwood Excelon 792 With Modifry harness
I ordered modifry harness and the stereo harness. I connected all the kenwood wires that were used to the modifry harness. I think i mixed up the dimm/illum wire. (orange with white strip on kenwood), because the modifry harness had 2 orange wires. Well i used the orange with white strip, but it does not dim with lights on. So i need to switch those. But there is also a blue wire on modifry harness that comes out of stock radio connector. I had no idea what to hook it up to??
I have the DCI wire setup in, all my dash controls work EXCEPT my mute button. The mute button does nothing. Did i miss not hooking up a wire?
Anyone that knows what im talking about please help me. I have a blue and orange wire coming from stock connector out of modifry harness. I think i need to switch the orange to the kenwood to make dimmer work. But does other orange wire just hang loose? And what do i need to hookup to make the mute button work, maybe i left out a wire on the DCI switch???

the blue wire coming out of the harness connector is for the power antenna,
and must be connected for good reception, as the antenna is amplified.
I believe there is also a blue wire coming out of the DCI which is for a
"cell phone" mute if your radio supports this, rather than a "remote" mute.
There's a dipswitch setting which controls which mute you get, and if it's
set to the extra wire rather than through the common remote, but your
radio doesn't support this or it's not hooked up, you'll end of with no mute.

Thanks, my DCI only had 4 switches on it though. I think its because i didnt hook up the Kenwood MUTE wire to the blue DCI mute wire.
Thanks for info about the antenna. So what is the extra orange wire for? I know i need to switch for dimmer, but whats the one on modifry harness with white line on it for then?
EDIT: Scratch the mute part out, i left the switch thing to be on wired remote instead of normal
stupid me.
So now whats left is the extra orange wire.... anyone?

The OEM radio has two inputs - one of them tells the unit that the headlights
are on so it will automatically dim, and the other is, I believe (but never
actually tested), to cause the display brightness to increase/decrease as you
adjust the brightness of the instrument panel. Most aftermarket headunits
only support the former. In any event, just tape off (with electrical tape) the
extra orange wire to make sure it doesn't short against anything.

I was also looking at getting the 792, do the radio knobs clear the radio door?

gonna have to order a new one.
