Hi All:

This is my first attempt to post a poll (help)!!!

Firstly, I lost my noodle somewhere and the towels I've been using are kind of a big hassle, if you ask me. I am wondering if I can't just simply lower and/or raise the top to my liking without the hassle of stepping out of the car to put the protector in.

Please post your findings in this matter. I don't believe anybody has tried to investigate this matter yet!

Best regards,

Siepel
(Peter)

PS Can the moderator add the options:
- Don't use any window protector; no serious damage visible
- Don't use any window protector; serious damage visible

Peter-

Used tube protector, Muz Mat, and a crap load of Plexus on my '01. The top was always down (except for washing) and the window stayed pretty clear and crease free. It was still a pain in the ass and one of the reasons why I now have an '02.

Having supplied my wife with a pattern made of newspaper, she had my mother-in-law make a top well mat for me. She did a great job and it only cost $5.00 for the felt materialand $2.00 for Velcro strips! That alone has made a big difference. I also have a homemade tube but never use it. Too much hassle!

I put a static cling window tint on mine a year and a half ago. Keeps the window clean and protects it from being scratched, and due to the thickness of the tint, reduces the distortion caused by folding the top down. No hassle permant solution if you don't mind having the back window tinted.

Protecting the inside of your window should take priority. The issue with the outside is only one of creasing more so than actual scratching and grazing. If you have no creases in your window you should be fine as long as the inside is protected.

I have been using a Muz Mat & Tube for a long time. The car is 30 months old, I have the top down about 90% of the time and have used Plexus on the window once. I was just thinking yesterday (it rained here in Houston and I had to put the top up) that the window is just about as clear as the day I bought the car. I'm a firm believer in Muz' products.
