Smile Annoying new rattle

I have grown accustomed to the odd rattle and squeak from the S and a few of them I have been able to either ignore or solve

However in the last few months a fairly noisy rattle / knocking / tapping is coming from mainly behind the passenger seat and the rear part of the roof (when up or down).

Does anyone know if the roof starts to work itself loose? It certainly isn't coming from the suspension as it is inside the cabin?

Any help would be most appreciated - oh and happy new year!

I had a similar noise nad tracked it down to the 3 clips that hold the vertcal part of the 'parcel shelf' having worked their way loose.

As you look between the seats at the rear window, there is a vertical piece of plastic with a central clip and one at each side. A couple of bits of felt in there now & all is quiet.

Is it the original roof? I know of a couple of cases where an aftermarket roof has slackened and the rear window ended up bashing against the roll-hoop.
In one case, the roof had to be replaced (Free of charge, by the guys that fitted it).
I'm not sure if that problem might also occur with the original Honda roof.

EDIT: Just noticed you said "when up or down". Ignore me then.

I had a similar noise develop just before my 27,000 mile service (when the car was still in its original warranty and 2 1/2 years old). Although the noise was not loud it was irritating, and as a CEng I was annoyed that I could not track it down.

As asked them to have a look during the service and they informed me it was the N/S/R drive shaft assembly. This was replaced FOC and cured the problem.

I hope that helps you, as these noises can be so annoying!

Apparently my S has had 2 new roofs (under warranty). I had this checked when I first bought my S because there were lots of rivet ends stuck in the frame.

Thanks MJ2K I will check that out tomorrow.

I did think that it was the roll hoops knocking on the rear glass but I no longer think that is the case.

The investigation continues!!

If you still have the spare wheel, check the screw that's securing it, if it is tight enough.

I have had the seatbelt rattle against the plastic, also it the seat all the way back. Bring it forward a couple of notches.

I also have the passenger sun visor rattle so i have to have it half down all the time.

Would it be worth starting a thread on rattles and how to fix?

Also check you don;t have something under the seat.

Please PM me if you ever sort this, mine does it too, exactly the same.
Had the boot liner out and everything. sounds like a cable flapping about behind the seats, around the fuel tank area. Can't trace it....
Thought I sorted it when I found the bowden cable for the fuel flap loose.
It's stuck to the panels inside the NSR wing with tape and pads.
Wasn't that!
