Holy crap.. My buddy wrecked his M Coupe...
I was driving behind him and his wife on Saturday night when we both came off the freeway going kind of fast.. Not fast enough for what happened though.. Anyway, as the car started to take the turn, the back end began to drift a little. I guess that they over corrected too much and spun 180 degrees going about 50 mph. They spun right into a curb and when they hit the curb, the entire right side of the car lifted up into the air. I immediately slammed on my brakes and could see the whole underneath of the car. Him and his wife were okay though. The back end of the car ended up over the curb and the front end of the car was slanted touching the street. Wow.. I felt so bad for them. They have another car and the insurance is going to take care of it but still.. Wrecking an M Coupe is not fun.. I guess replacing the side air bag alone is somewhere around $1500. Lame.. If anyone wants to see pics of it click below. Eventually, I will put pics of my S2K up as well. Just haven't had time.

Yeah.. He wanted me to post the pics so he could show everyone on the M Coupe boards.. It was a crazy night.. I was right behind him. I am glad I didn't run into him. To have both the S2k and the M Coupe in an accident would suck even worse.. Anyway, it is a 2000 M Coupe. 240 hp version but with a few minor upgrades like a chip and some suspension mods. Hopefully nothing like that happens to me in my drive to the bay area next month. Then off to LA a few days later for E3. Sweet! Miles on my S2k!!!!!!!!!
That looks pretty nasty. Talk about postive camber. How in the world did the side airbags go off considering there wasn't any damage from the side. Except for the curb checked driver side. That's going to cost a pretty penny to fix. Looks like the front bumper got misaligned as well.
Anyways, nice picture of your swashbuckler friend.
Did you super-impose his face onto the catalog model?

Damn, glad you had time to back off so you didn't do the same. I've almost done the same myself; it's hard not to over-react in a situation like that, but doing a bunch of DE's helps you reprogram your brain to do the right thing in situations like that.

was it like a regular curb, like ones that just go upa few inches? i have been in a car doing 65 threw a turn (the guy driving was a pretty good driver, not the best.) but he was familiar with the turn and has done it many times at like 50, but not 65...ant way it was a tear drop and he hit the median (the shape of a tear drop) over corrected when coming out and went sides ways and there was a van so he had to turn the other way and over corrected again, hopped up a curb slid threw the grass and hit a concrete wall on my side, no injuries but totalled the car with a few grand in it.
I ran across your friend's posts online the other day. Here's a link to his comments and some responses by other board members:

Yep, it was a normal curb.. Most likely he ran over some gravel or something like that. I fear that if he didn't spin, it might of been me. Anyway, he had the ASC (traction control) on and that maight of had something to do with it as well..
