Radio door removal & New Windscreen
I thought i'd just post this and include pics to show how to remove the radio door without removing anything except the old door!
(i remember there being a lack of pics when i was searching for it)
First step:
1. Use a small screwdriver or simalar device (even an OBO masonary nail with a blunt tip) that fits through the innner hinge holes when the door is in the down position:
2. Gently tap with a mallet or hammer until the hinge pin appears at the other side.
Keep tapping the screwdriver until the pin is pushing into the soft dash sides. Using pliers here makes it a bit easier:
3. Do the same on the other door hinge then gently wiggle the old door out.
4. On the left side of the door you will notice a small spring that is set into the door hinge.
(make sure you put it in the same spot on the replacement door)
5. The tricky part is putting the door back so that the spring resides in the correct place.
Dont bother using fingers or tools as you will get pissed off rather quickly.
Simply get a bit of masking tape, attach it to the end of the spring wire and use it to tension the spring (pull back on it with one hand).
6. Push the door back in while tensioning the spring with the other hand.
When the door is being pushed against the backing remove the tape and use the pliers to push the pins back into place.
Easy
Finally i got my new Honda windscreen installed by a RAC autoglass:
They seem to have done a good job... left plenty of glass shards around for me to hoover up tho
Notice the new "AERO" wipers off ebay... at
