Default Can one paint the Aluminum AC canister in the front?

I removed my front license plate and now what I believe is the aluminum AC canister is very visible against the AC radiator. It sits just behind the black plastic grill and with the aluminum tubing and all other parts - I want to paint it. Has anyone done this? I would assume a heat resistant black paint? Any ideas would be helpful.

I've been meaning to paint mine. I certainly can't see any harm in doing it.

I painted mine black, and there's no need for heat-resistant paint.

I did it today. I ran the AC for about 20 miles and then stopped the car and touched the silver tubing and condenser/canister and it was warm but not hot. I still painted it with heat resistant KRYLON paint to be on the safe side. Looks much better. I put a cutout cardboard piece behind it so I could spray paint it (after trying to remove all cowling plastic and failing). Looks very good and it does a much better job of blending in to the shadows. I can still see the sides of the AC heat transfer/radiator but that is being picky.

Here's how I hide mine (and protect it at the same time)

Vic,
I use the black powder coated Coastal Metal front grill, here is a shot when the car was about a week old...that was the only time the front plate bracket was on the car...but the grill does a great job of cleaning up the front end. I trimmed the grill a bit to get it to fit better against the existing grill, and keep it off the paint.

If you take a look at the two pictures I have below you will see what it looks like with it painted. The first is without flash. If you stand about ten yards in front of your car you will see the silver canister. Even with the special grill on Cyclops' picture above you can see it just below"mp" in the Ralph Schomp.Com. My second picture below, you can see it more clearly (and the bugs) as I used the flash.

There must be a reason they don't paint it. If I was designing the car, I would certainly see it as something stupid that sticks out like a sore thumb.
