ok i found these options

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry15156547
OK, sticky-back velcro pads on the inside. Prevents the bar from rubbing the top. I used a very thin application of Permatex Black Silicone sealant applied in several thin layers over the existing tear. It is a bit shinier than the top, but does not look bad at all. Dries very flexible and bonds the two sides together. Top up and down all weekend with no problems!

Try a little dab of black 3M weatherstrip adhesive on the inside of the spot. This worked on some wear spots on my Miata tops.

For a larger tear, I cut some thin nylon fabric (like from a gym bag or luggage strap) and glued it from the inside with weatherstrip adhesive. Worked great.

which one sounds better?

well i did the permatex silicone sealent....reason ,well it has a good temp range, and because it gets so hot down here thought it was a good idea....all i need is several sections of balck canvas for the inside to keep the areas from rubbing. looks like it will work!
If any one needs help let me know...i have plenty sealant let..and it a easy process but you will need time to have it cure properly.

So you are saying that even if our tops don't have holes right now we can do this as a safety measure at the spots where it rubs so our tops last longer?

If that is the case then I would love to do it on mine. Did you take any pics of the procedure and where did you buy all the stuff. My top is almost 3 years old now and I really wouldn't want it to start falling apart, you know.

yes i do recomend to do this.....my tiny pin hole quickly became a tiny rip , bout da size of my pinky finger nail.
i got the sealent at a ace hardware fer about 5 bucks an change..that was a little high but i wanted it right away and it would cost more in gas just to run around town trying to get the best price.
I dont have pics but the process was easy.
unlatch yer top but do not retract it.
have some scrap paper..like receipt type paper it the best because it wont leave small whit fibers when u dab off excess sealent...
start with the inside and appli the sealent...dab and smooth out with the paper.....
then let dry fer about 10-15 min...then do the outside with verry little, just enough to cover the rip remember to dab the excess off...again let dry fer about 10-15 min..then do process 1 more time......
after that let sit fer about 1-2 hrs to cure decently...dot not latch your top til after the 1-2 hrs period....
at this point you should not see any light comming thru.
after 1-2hrs latch top...and do the processes 1 more time with a lite coating..thats it
ill try to get pics of the finished area
as for the ares that are just rubbing..im hving a internal debate...to use a canvas material or do as sujested above but use the sealent as a bonding agent.....
there was also a sujestions to use velcro (the cloth side) as a cover (on the inside).
now im talking about verry small areas....larger ones (rips that is) you may need 2 people and have it tought out alittle better...

I have an idea... park your car in a really nice area... leave it out overnight and someone will help out you out.. they will cut it wide open to make a convertible sunroof and steal crap out of it and pay $500 deductible.. and wait in agony for your car to be fixed..

ummmmmm..no thats ok ill pass lol

i did find the source of the rubbing ...its the front bar that holds the elastic straps in place....im thinking of putting the velcro there..but im not 100% commited on this...i did add alot more epoxie on the inside while the top was lached..it looks like it holding but that damm bar is rubbing it when i put the top down.....now i have this industrial velcro so it wnot go no where....i just have to cut and fit it properly....
