Default Tear On Woofer

Had a pair of kickers solo-barics laying in the garage and guess someone put a little tear in the soft rubber part. Maybe a 1/4" long. Can that be fixed? Or should I just trash it?

Thanks,
John

I bet you'll never hear that rip. Just use them. It can be fixed just as an FYI, but I bet you'll never hear the difference.

Just get some black RTV sealant (autoparts or hardware store), clean the surround from the inside using IPA or acetone, apply a dab of the RTV on the inside over the hole/tear and let it cure completely.

I agree with John on not really being able to notice it, but if you are using a sealed enclosure it would no longer be sealed and you would likely hear it.

I'm thinking of building a box myself. Can I use the same design sub box in the FAQ section for these two woofer? They're two 10" solobarics btw.

thanks John -- no offense taken. while i haven't seen one of this year's solobarics, they've had a pretty stout surround for a while. same technique should work though. clean it off and the glue should seal it off nicely.
