Wastegate on my CTSC?
So I purchased a CTSC used from the forum. It came with what I thought was a blow off valve (I'm a noob at F/I.) I was looking at other BOV/CTSC set ups, and I was realizing that mine is different. So, it turns out I have a Turbonetics Wastegate on my aftercooler (http://www.phantasmusa.com/t10101.html this same one) p/n 10101. Is this helping me at all? The bypass valve is still hooked up to the intake.
Pictures below. Is this doing anything for me? Should I disconnect/cap the hose on the left side of the AC going to the bypass valve/intake?

Ok so this is actually functional. Some of the big time SC guys (not s2kiers, lol) will use a wastegate on the intercooler piping to regulate boost just as you would use one on the exhaust manifold in a conventional turbo setup.
The idea here is since you have that wastegate you can now run the smallest SC pulley possible to get the most out of the supercharger. If you fuel system can't handle 12-13psi at redline or anything above 7psi anywhere then the wastegate allows you to bleed off the excess boost to keep things manageable. You can now have the ramp up of the smallest pulley and pick up that low/mid range power without having to be able to support the highest boost and high rpm.
If you ever wanted to run a boost controller on a centrifugal SC this is how
Is yours actually hooked up to anything? Direct vacuum line to engine or a boost controller? It's entirely possibly you've already got a 3.0 pulley or something and the wastegate is capping your boost to 7-8psi. Some boost vs rpm data from your car would tell us a lot.

Interesting.
I bought the kit used and the wastegate was already mounted to the aftercooler. I do have a boost gauge, and I think the boost gauge is hooked up to this (possibly, I saw a hose running from the wastegate, later on I'll try to trace the end and see where it's going.)
I know I'm currently running a 4.25" pulley, but swapping on a 4.0" this weekend. Later this summer, I'll do high boost/tune/ems/injectors/etc.

Have you asked the previous owner anything about the kit? It would be interesting to know what spring was in the wastegate. If it was something like 7-8psi or even less then you could possibly upgrade to a 3.0 pulley without needing ems or injectors and enjoy some midrange gruntt.
It would be great to hear how the previous owner was utilizing it.

This is correct but I have yet to see a system with this that actually works. In theory the CFM and pressure should allow to dump the excess charge but among other things the modulation was difficult. The other issues is excess heat, by over compressing the charge you create extra heat which lowers the efficiency. That being said if it does work then I will gladly take the reduced top end to gain low end.
Bottom line it is there so give it a shot.
