Man, what a project. It turned out pretty well. After all that has been posted about audio upgrades I have to say for the time and money I would not do it again - on a convertible anyway. I would stick with the upgraded front speakers (components), definitely rear speakers and head unit if you are still looking for more power and amp all speakers. I have the 60x4 Alpine 7894 but it gets distorted when you try to really drive the sub in the trunk. I guess an Alpine 4-channel amp with new wiring may be the last and final upgrade to the audio. See my sig for currently installed components. Here are some pics.
I made a small 1/4" frame then glued the fiberglass mat on to it and let it fall into the well.
Applied resin
In the Florida heat it set in about 20 minutes
Topped with 3/4" MDF and auto carpet - covered the bottom with felt so it would not snag when removing
Final product. Waiting for the Polk MOMO grill cover to protect.
Not bad for a first time project!
Nice work, i m surprised your not happy with it. I have a similar set up that i did in my trunk but i used a ported box instead.
I would suggest maybe trying a small 2 channel just to run your sub. I m using two 2 channel amps to run my set up, but i dont have rear speakers either. I cant even begin to tell you how happy i am with my set up. I feel thumping bass at 70 MPH with the top down!!! All from one ported 10.

Fiberglass, my specialty. 9'x9' cloth sheet $10 on ebay. fiberglass resin $16 a quart. Its really easy to work with. Just apply fiberglass first to the project and then apply resin, my mom now has a fiberglass picnic table because I assumed you wet it with resin and then pick it up and place it where you want it.
Found the mounting spot - perfect - Thanks!. As for making another, not any time soon.
