Background info:

Dropped off S2000 for Clutchmaster Stage 4 and Toda Flywheel install on Friday night with my mechanic. Picked up car from him on Saturday at 4:30pm. I have 500 miles to break in the clutch, so no 9000 rpm shifts, and my belt on the charger hasn't been tightened since the install ~3000 miles ago, so I am down about 1-2psi, as it has stretched under break in.

Left right after picking up the car to go to Maine for my Moms 52nd birthday party. Had a trunk full with laptop, clothes, and a case of wine as her present. Top is down, windows up. It's about 70* around 6:45pm.

The Lightning:

Ran into a White '00, '01-'02 SVT Lightning on I-95N in New Hamshire close to the Maine border. Young guy driving it, on his cell phone. I pass him and then a few min later he floors it and passes me. I follow him through a small section of traffic until a huge area opens up. I move into the middle lane and he is in the fast lane. I inch up next to him and give him a thumbs up and a rev. He looks at me and smiles. I waited about 2 minutes for him to gun it and he didn't so I rev'ed and downshifted into 4th gear at ~80mph. I shifted at ~7500-8000rpm into 5th and the same for 6th. I walked away from him up to 130 before I shut down. I would say at the end I was 4-5 car lengths ahead of him, and from 80-100 it was 1-2. I was very happy esp considering the above conditions with my car.

The 911 C4S:

Im on the way home on Sunday on 495-S or 90E(I can't remember) in MA at about 5-6pm. Top is up, air conditioning is on, weather is light rain.

I am in the slow lane doing about 80-85 and I see a white camero Z28 and he is doing about ~90 in the fast lane. I look further up the fast lane and I see a dark blue(black?) wide body 911. I realize that its a new 2002 911 Carrera 4S coupe! He is moving fast at 90-95mph. I catch up to him and there is some light traffic so I follow his move from the fast lane into the middle and then slow lane where it is clear and he gets on it but I was already in 5th(saw this coming) and I floored it. I shifted into 6th at about 8000rpm(I had 400 miles on clutch by this point). We ran up to about 125. He couldn't pull on me! Once he slowed and I got along side of him, he gave me this wide-eyed look like "WTF is under the hood!" and a thumbs up. I gave him a wave and thumbs up back. I "think" he had a passenger. I wanted to run him again side by side, but he hung back from me the rest of the time. Oh well.

These were my first two good runs(besides stock S2000s) with all my mods. I had a feeling I was losing power in 5th and 6th gear on the highway. These runs(and the evidence left on my stock pressure plate) confirmed that my '02 clutch was slipping under the power. I'd really like to go against that 911 again with my V-AFC tuned and my belt tightened and my clutch fully broken in.

P.S> Anyone know how to tell the difference between a '00, '01-'02 lightning? This one had the SVT badge on the rear, I don't think the '00 said SVT but I don't know much about trucks. (I do know the '00s have a little less power than the '01-'02s)

Hey Jenner,

I met you at Jeff's shop (Evolutionautosports.com) when you were down here getting your SC installed. Can't wait for you to break in your clutch to see how that beast runs.

I ran Mike on the hwy a couple of weeks ago, needless to say I got crushed .

Oh yeah to the runs btw .

It will be tomorrow.

I am going to my tuner for V-AFC dyno tuning and fuel pressure gauge sensor install. While I am there(before the V-AFC tuning) the belt will be tightened.

Expecting to break 300 wheel horsepower.

Nice runs. Those C4S's unfortunately are the heaviest non-turbo cars as they have the wide body, and the AWD system, but many people say that is the most beautiful of all the new Porsches. It has the 3.6 liter boxer 6 putting out 320 crank hp. It's about a 13.3 car but really fast up past 100 (as all Porsches are). I would run you but I am in CA. That sounds like a very nice car that you have good luck I hope you get 300 whp.
