Default ~*canadian Soon to be a proud S2K owner*~

Hi! My name's toby
I'm from Toronto, Ontario
A soon-to-be S2K owner, still deciding whether to import it or buy it in Canada
NONETHELESS, soon.. very soon!

S2K has always been a dream car of my childhood when it first came out, and up till today (12 years.. holy moly) I'm still a big fan of it
Took a long long time and finally saved enough money to buy it!

Any Canadian people that can help me out with a couple questions of mine?
If you import a vehicle from the States, you have to pay a duty fee of 6.1% during custom since S2000 is not built in North America
And on top of that, do you also pay 13% of HST? (Man that's a lot of tax if it's true)

The only thing that's stopping me from paying for any S2K atm is this particular question

Sorry for my noob question in advance!

You would probably get a better respose if you posted your question in the Southern Ontario forum:

Good luck with your purchase.

Hey:
I am in Ontario and bought mine in Michigan.
Yes you pay 6.1% duty and 5% Federal portion of the HST when you bring the car through Customs.
When you license it in Ontario you pay the 8% Provincial portion of the HST.
Still worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Go to the RIV website for all the info on importing.
Good luck!
