it was $860 with shipping from the east coast. the hard dog roll bars come in a bunch of different configurations. this is the welded double diagonal with welded lower harness bar and stock seat belt mounts. this configuration is not compatible with the stock roll hoops so they will be gone soon. however, i can keep the secret compartment! gotta have a place to store all my gold. anyway, with this setup i have the option of getting seats/harnesses in the future and also have the option to run harnesses and stock seat belts at the same time. the bar with hardware weighs 48lbs, so i'm hoping to delete at least that much weight between the stock roll hoops and paneling so that i break even.

the install was no joke. definitely the biggest project i've ever undertaken on a car. gutting the interior, cutting/drilling the sheet metal, bolting in the bar, and reassembling the interior. ended up gaining about 20lbs after deleting the stock hoops and a bunch of interior panels. really not bad for such a serious bar. anyone need some stock hoops?! anyway, headed to the track on monday for the first time. can't wait!

first track day was on monday. super fun day and thankfully the new roll bar did not come into play! got all the basics done before track day except for new brake pads(admittedly this is a big one) and they definitely turned out to be the limiting factor. once they got hot they went down hill big time. otherwise, this was my first time at the track in a RWD car. whole new ball game so it's going to take some learning but the S2000 was amazingly balanced and responsive handling wise. my last track car was mazdaspeed3... much more brute force but not nearly the handling. looking forward to more mods on the S2000 and faster lap times!
btw- can anyone point me in the direction of a "tweener" brake pad that can hold up to the heat at the track but is also streetable?

a lot of work since my last update. installed megan track series coilovers with 12kg springs all around and dropped it about 1.5". also rolled flat and slightly pulled all four fenders. did some fender and fender liner trimming along with a bumper tab relocation in the rear. still need to get an alignment but here's how it sits right now:

also sewed a custom shifter boot, reupholstered and added padding to the center armrest, and made seat belt retractor covers since i removed the stock roll hoops and paneling. blue camo, what?!

installed techna fit SS brake lines in the front. hoping to get to the rears this week. otherwise just a ton of little things... car is slowly coming together.

Finished installing the SS brake lines and switched to dot 4 fluid. Also got carbotech XP8 pads all around. Cleaned the rotors, bedded the pads and went to the track a couple days ago with the new setup. Absolutely happy with it all! Car ran great and the brakes were consistent and solid all day long. Pads make a little noise with regular street driving but very tolerable considering how well they did at high temps at the track. Basic track setup is now there with brakes, wheels/tires, coilovers, roll bar, and some shaved weight. Next up is a proper seat.
