i'm noticing a constant, high pitched droning noise while the engine is at idle. coming from the engine bay, hard to tell where it's coming from exactly. almost sounds electrical but definitely a high pitched tone above the sound of the engine running. is this normal? any ideas?

there is a mild ticking, about to do a valve adjustment tomorrow. the drone i'm hearing is above the sound of the engine. it's like a gentler version of a smoke detector going off.

Are you sure it's not the intake making that sound?
Mine does that when the cover is off with a k&n filter

hmmm... I guess it could be the intake. hard to pin down exactly where in the engine bay it's coming from. I'll stick my head in there again and see if I can tell.

yeah, a high pitched hum when the car is at idle. also notice a whistle right above 3k RPM when accelerating. guess these are normal sounds....

anyway, just got back from a 2,400 mile road trip. car got better mileage than expected. usually between 28-30mpg. happy with that.
before i left did a bunch of [preventative] maintenance.
-oil/filter change.
-transmission fluid change.
-rear diff. fluid change.
-coolant flush.
-new thermostat.
-new spark plugs.
-valve adjustment.
-new cabin air filter.

next up is brake fluid flush and clutch fluid flush. also just got my roll bar. install will be a bitch but track day will be awesome!
