Default 05 S2000 or 92 NSX

Hey everyone, I finally got approved for my car loan and I'm still kind of undecided. There is a beautiful Silverstone 05 S2000 for sale near here for $50,000 CAN. but there is also a very nice 92 NSX for $49,000.

I'm selling my bike (04 Yamaha R1), to get this car which will I will only be able to drive for a couple months out of the year, I doubt they like Canadian winters that much.

I'm sure everyone will be pro-S2000, and that is the way that I am leaning, but is there any reason that the NSX would be a bad idea?

Don't be so sure, sinisfun... People around here have enormous respect for the NSX.

I won't try to advise you, though. If it were a choice for me, I'd still stick with the the S because it's a convertible. I live for top-down.

How many miles are on the NSX? That would be a big influence on my decision.

How far are you from the states? If 5-6hr drive...drive to the states buy an s2000 for $30Kish and pocket the difference...it's been done before by our neighbors to the north.

Wow thats a tough decision. I would have to agree with Ryan on this one, a low mile NSX would be sweet. Either way you go I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

sinisfun,
As an NSX owner, I would say that there is no way driving an NSX is a bad idea, unless its going to be your only car. If its going to be a second car, I'd go with the NSX.

Spend some time at http://www.nsxprime.com and see what is being said there. Finding a clean NSX can take some time (esp. in Canada as there are far fewer for sale than in the States). You will want to take time to find a clean one since paying for a previous owners neglect can become costly very quickly.

Also spend some time with the NSX FAQ: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/faq.htm
This one can help you with your decision about the NSX: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/BuySell/buy_sell.htm

Feel free to PM me here on S2Ki or NSXprime if you have questions about the NSX. My handle on prime is also mickeylex.

Now, back to the for sale section so I can find the right S2000 to add next to the NSX.

Good luck with your decision.

Ive got a 92 NSX and I love the S2k as well. It depends what you want the car for. Daily Driving, Track, or whatever. The one your talking about for $49k is a rip-off. Check NSXPRIME.com for some much better deals. The NSX requires alot of cash. I like the Factory Warranty and everyday reliabilty of the S2k but the NSX is super exotic and alot more fun to drive (no flames please ). Look at the whole picture. Financing is better on the S2k and the convertable aspect is nice too. Drive them both and them decide. Dont rush into an NSX, it'll cost you big-time

Mike - the $49K is $CAD, but you are right - even at that price its high (converts to about $USD 42K).
"Don't rush into an NSX" - Truer words have never been spoken.

I was in the same situation awhile back. I sold the my nice beautiful fast mustang.
Went and test drive a '93 or '95 NSX and jumped in "05 S. I end up got the S. The car handle which more solid. NSX is a very nice looking car (timeless machine). If for look the NSX is the one, but for a solid handling car is the S. IMO. Good luck.
